Here you will find tips to help you run successful meetings
* Ensure all meetings are scheduled at times to suit all members (including parents not on the committee)
* Advertise meetings well (social media, notice board, word of mouth)
* Ensure meetings have a purpose - something to attract people to come along.
* Meetings are well structured and less formal.
* Promote who members are through newsletters and wall displays, include photos so that people can be easily recognised.
* Have a committee member responsible for meeting new parents/families - personal approach.
* Not all meetings are for fund-raising, have social gatherings - guest speaker, craft making, cooking, skill sharing etc.
* Name of parent committee can be changed to suit the community - this gives ownership.
* Spread the workload. Let everyone take on jobs so you are not relying on just one or two people but empowering lots of people. Once someone has been successful in one task, they are more likely to do something again. If some can see that they are not needed then they are likely to not offer their services again.
* Recognise volunteers as often as possible.
* Ensure communication stays open and everyone knows what is happening including all parents.
* During a meeting ensure that important issues are minuted, moved and seconded once decisions are made.
* Keep Association staff updated with any changes and communication.
